Traditional T-Shirt Quilts
A traditional t-shirt quilt is made up of shirts that are all cut the same size, set in a grid pattern with sashing between the blocks. The t-shirt design should be no larger than 14” square. I’ll try my best to include as much of the design as possible in shirts that are larger than 14”
Select the number of shirts you would like to have in your quilt. Each side of a shirt counts as one shirt, for example, to use the front and back of a shirt, it counts as 2 shirts.
12 shirts - approx. 52" x 68" quilt - (throw size) - $350
20 shirts - approx. 68" x 85" quilt - (twin size) - $450
30 shirts - approx. 85" x 101" quilt (full size) - $525
36 shirts - approx. 100" x 100" quilt (queen size) - $600
42 shirts - approx. 100" x 118" quilt (king size) - $700
$75 rush fee may be charged if given less than 1 month to complete.
There is a $25 consultation fee for in person meetings that will be waived if a deposit is secured at that meeting.
Preparation—All t-shirts are prepared with a lightweight fusible interfacing to prevent stretching. It also helps to add stability to very worn shirts. It helps if the shirts have been laundered WITHOUT fabric softener.
Design—A great deal of time is spent arranging your shirts and selecting coordinating fabrics for the sashing, backing and binding to ensure the most attractive layout and color combinations for your quilt.
Materials—I use 100% cotton fabric and batting. I use a high quality cotton batting that will not bunch or sag over time, it creates a smooth, soft look. Other quilt companies may charge extra for materials or require you to provide your own. My prices include all materials except for your shirts.
Binding—Your quilt is finished with a double folded fabric binding. The edges of your quilt are subject to wear and this type of binding is very neat and more durable than a single layer binding or most machine applied bindings.
Machine quilting—My quilts are beautifully machine quilted for durability and strength. A meandering pattern is quilted throughout the quilt.
